VYN is the world's first repairable sneaker, designed with both style and sustainability in mind. The brainchild of Swiss shoe designers Catherine Meuter and Stefan Mathys, VYN sneakers are made to be easily repaired so that you can keep your favourite pair going strong for years to come.

The shoes are made of high-quality materials, which have been researched and tested for longevity. In addition, the materials used in the construction of VYN are traceable and a lot of the suppliers are family-run businesses.

Traditionally made sneakers

Sneakers (trainers) are a big part of the fashion industry, with sneakers alone making up a $22 billion dollar industry. 

With sneakers being produced en masse to meet consumer demands, it's no surprise that sneakers are also one of the biggest sources of waste in the fashion industry.

In fact, it is estimated that the sneaker industry produces over 300 million pairs of sneakers each year, and most of those sneakers end up in landfills. 

So what can we do to reduce the environmental impact of sneakers?

One option is to buy fewer sneakers and to take better care of the ones we have. This is why all VYN sneakers have replaceable heels which come in made different colours.

To repair your VYN’s, all you need to do is pop out the sole and replace it with a new one – no need to throw away your shoes when they start to show signs of wear. With a wide range of styles and colours available, there's a VYN sneaker to suit everyone's taste.

At Sumwot, we're working with VYN to help them raise awareness of their brand and product. We recently assisted with organising physical events in Basel, Switzerland and London, UK, and we're currently working on their marketing strategy.
